I never know when I wait this long to blog if I should skip to what is new or catch up on the old. Oh well. I guess it doesn't really matter that much.
So we finally got a new computer, so the old slow one cannot be my lack of blogging excuse anymore. Don't know if it will help or not, but here's hopin'!
Last month we went to Disneyland for a little getaway. We were lucky enough to convince Nana and Papa to come with us for moral support and of course, enjoyment. It was fun, except we happened to pick the week that California had major rainstorms and flooding going on. It rained and rained and rained on us! We even started looking for the arc...
Anyway, this is about how our week went..
January 16....After stuffing our Pilot to the rim, we managed to fit all of us in (with a luggage carrier on top!) and drove to Primm, NV all day !! Thank goodness for DVD players and Shark Boy Lava Girl in 3D!
January 17... woke up and got on the road to CA, with plans to go to DL on the 18th. However, the weather sounded like it would be better that day than later, so we changed our minds. We got to Newport, dropped our stuff off and went straight to the park. We were there about 20 minutes when it started raining!
We saw Tinkerbell and took the classic photos.
We rode all the rides we could in Fantasyland.
January 18…This day we just hung out at the resort and did the presentation where they try to get you to buy more weeks. It was really stormy outside so we didn’t go too far. In the afternoon it cleared up a bit so we went to the beach, but I forgot my camera! Crap! I will have to get pictures from Nana and Papa!
January 19…We went back to Disneyland to use our Magic Morning passes. Around lunchtime, a huge down poor of rain came and stayed for a couple of hours. Needless to say, we don’t really have any pictures of it because it was way too wet to take them! After the storm cleared enough that we could leave our shelter, we decided we had had enough of Disneyland, and headed over to …..California Adventure!!
It actually turned out to be a really good afternoon/evening there! We even got to see a parade! When that park closed, we went back over to Disneyland and rode more rides, then we got to see a street party! Easton even got to go up and dance! The parks both closed early because there was so much rain! Main Street USA became a pond instead of a street (Papa got a photo of this, too).
January 20th… This day we took a break from the parks and spent some quality time at the resort. The kids painted t-shirts in King Triton’s Play area. Jeff and Papa did some work on their computers, and we took naps. Later that night we went to Red Robin to eat dinner. The whole complex in Newport was basically abandoned! I guess rain scares everyone away. We were happy there was no snow!
January 21st… This was our 3rd day at the parks. We spent a lot of time at California Adventure watching Turtle Talk, Aladdin (the new musical), being honorary bugs at the bugs’ life, and hitting targets on the Toy Story ride. We also got to do the Sorcerer’s Workshop (did not even know what this was or that it existed), and draw a cartoon character.
January 22th…This was our last day at the parks (yes we did all 4 days of our park hoppers)! This was the day that we saw the princesses! That was about the only thing Adri asked to do, so we made it a point to do it well!! All the rain sure made the lines short and crowds low. We never got to see the firework show because of the RAIN!! We did get to see lots of characters…all to ourselves with no one around! The western looking dude in the photo below played the fiddle for us. He was awesome and even knew Popcorn Popping!
January 23th… This is the day we packed the Pilot back up and drove all the way back to Utah. Poor Nana and Papa had to head all the way to Pocatello! It was a long day of traveling, but all the kids were really good!
Random funny things about the trip….I think everyone of us got a NASTY cold at some point, and we all managed to share it! We took lots of cold meds and vitamins.
I think all in all, we consumed about 10 large bags of Peanut M&Ms. That was definitely the treat of choice.
We all got our fill of ham and cheese sandwiches!
Next time, we hope to get to go a little farther….maybe Hawaii or somewhere with no rain!
