We went to the ward Trunk or Treat on Friday night.  We all dressed up: girls were (Wicked) witches, boys were vampires.  It was fun but I didn’t have a disk in my camera so there are only a couple of pictures.  Our street had a block party with a yummy potluck dinner and then all the kids loaded onto a flatbed trailer and went trick or treating through the neighborhood.  It was a fun day.  We mad homemade root beer for the first time and the kids loved it!  We are still enjoying it! 

Happy Fall Ya’ll!

Hey!  Turns out they have fall here in Tennessee, too!!  Except it is a lot more colorful!  The trees are starting to change colors and it is beautiful all around us!  We actually have leaves in our yard too!  I don’t think we have ever had leaves in our yard (at least not very many).  With the beautiful fall weather, we have gotten to enjoy many activities.  First of all we went to Charlotte.  That is the first time we have been to North Carolina.  We stayed at our cousin Jordan’s house and went to his NFL game.  We got to watch their practice before their game too.  It was fun to seen them, as we have not for a while.   The next day we went to his game and watched from the box.  It was a long weekend since it was about 4 hours, but it was a good experience.

 

For fall break, we went to the zoo with our great neighbors, the Giacalones!  None of us had been to the Knoxville Zoo, and it was a pretty good day to go (a bit on the chilly side, but still ok.)  We took our sweet time looking at the animals, playing on the toys, and petting the animals at the petting zoo.  Then they told us the zoo was closing at 4:30!  We were not expecting that!  So we had to rush to see the last animals.  It was okay, though.  We bought year passes so we will go back.  When we got back from the zoo, we had a barbeque and roasted marshmallows in the Giacalones fire pit.  My kids said it felt like we were camping because of the chill in the air and the trees.  It was a great day!

 

The next day, we drove to Nashville to watch my friend from Kaysville’s daughter play volleyball.   She plays for Campbell University in NC, and they were playing two teams from Nashville.  So I got to see my basketball friend, Jan, and watch her daughter, Kelsey play volleyball.  We stayed in a hotel and let the kids swim and have a good time.  We also made a trip to our beloved Costco, since there is not one in Knoxville.  That was pretty much the end of our fall break.

 

Yesterday, the 23rd of October, we went with some friends, the Seabrooks and their cousins,  to the Maple Lane Pumpkin Patch.  Adri was picked to take the class mascot (an iguana webkin) for the weekend, so she brought Cammy with us as you can see in the picutures).  It was fun.  Different than a Utah patch, though.  Since pumpkins don’t really grow very well here, they dump them in a field.  We sweated to death in the corn maze that had a very bad map!  We finally gave up and cut through wherever we could to get OUT!  The kids were hot and sweaty and had an icee to cool off.  We went on a hay ride through the field to “pick” a pumpkin: pick-in the sense that you choose, not pick from the vine!  The kids rode a really lame little train that they thought was fun.  Overall, it was a great way to spend a fall day before Halloween.

 

 

AdRi iS fIVe!

Our first holiday in our new house was Adri’s 5th birthday! She was so excited to finally be 5. She was one of the few 4-year olds in school, so it was good to be 5. She was way excited to have her party, except that she wasn’t sure about who she would invited since we didn’t know very many people. We got to have family present opening party on her actual birthday and then had some friends and neighbors over for cake and ice cream on Sunday night. It was great because it made us realize that we actually do have a few friends already!!! yay!

Back to School in K-ville!

First I will post the first day of school pictures, since that was so long ago.  I hate to skip over them so I won’t!

 

This was actually the first full day of school for both kids, and we were finally at our house (not the hotel)!

Knoxville TN?

  So when we found out that we were moving to Knoxville, we all had very mixed emotions: sadness, anger anxiety, excitement, all at one time.  It was a big change for our family.  Knowing that the move was most likely coming, our spring and summer flew by!  We had baseball, tee-ball (a waste of time if you ask Adri), dance and piano recitals, and lots of other activities going on.  There was also preschool graduation, Allie’s second birthday and our trip with my parents to Hawaii!  Then we snuck in some days at Lagoon, had a family reunion in Island Park, went to Georgetown one last time, and sold our house.   Then after time flew by and all those events happened, we moved our little family to Knoxville, TN!

I just realized the other day that I have not gotten Allie’s pictures taken in a long time, so I decided to take care of that! I took her over to the fairgrounds and got a few cute shots.  Now I do not feel so guilty!
